The bright white sand burned hot. The grittiness rubbed the balls and heels of Meredith’s feet and exfoliated between her toes. The perfect pedicure. The soft breeze blew her hair about her face, tossing it in all directions as she stared over the crashing blue waves. Movement out of the corner of her eye drew her attention. A man she’d never seen before ran along the shoreline. He was heading right at her. Did he see her? How could he not? Should she move? Holding her breath, she prepared for impact.

His lean towards her was painfully slow, as if waiting for the oxygen to fill her deprived lungs. Then, his breath reached her lips, and the moment was surreal. A dashing man, a splendid beach, and heightened emotions that seemed unreal. How had this moment in time happened to her? Was it real? She prayed it was. 

Then, she gasped as his mouth touched hers. Melting like ice in the sunshine, she sank into his arms and chest. He hugged her and pulled her close. Kissing her with the full force of his body, she was undone. Did he kiss other women like he kissed her?
